Our Peer Network connects you with other disabled people from across Aotearoa.

Members of the Peer Network are volunteers with lived experience. We are disabled people who want to use our experience to support other disabled people.

Peer Network

How does it work?

You can choose a Peer Supporter or ask us, and we can pair you up with someone.

Our Peer Supporters are disabled people with life experience to share. You can connect with them first via the app and then, if you both consent, via phone, text, video call, or email.

You can connect with our Peer Network to:

  • Talk about life

  • Share your experiences

  • Chat about your hobbies

  • Work towards a goal

  • Simply connect.

When you match with a Peer Supporter, they can organise a time to connect with you. They will listen and talk to you about what you want to get out of the Peer Network. You can choose how often you’ll talk and for how long.

Who are our Peer Supporters?

Our Peer Supporters are all disabled volunteers from throughout Aotearoa. Each brings their own lived experience and their own passions. You can learn more about each Peer Supporter via our My Life My Voice app.

If you are interested in becoming a Peer Supporter, you must complete our Peer Support Training. Once this is done, you will be sent the forms to become a Peer Supporter. This includes a confidentiality agreement and a police vetting form. You will also need to set up a profile on our app.

Once this process is completed, you will be marked as a verified Peer Supporter. Your profile will then be made public so that those seeking peer support can contact you.

Connect with a Peer Supporter

My Life My Voice has made reaching out to a Peer Supporter easier than ever with our My Life My Voice app. Open the app and connect in three easy steps:

  1. Browse our Peer Supporter profiles

  2. Select a Supporter you would like to connect with

  3. Select the ‘Start Chat’ icon in the bottom right of the supporters profile

The My Life My Voice app is available on Apple, Android, and as an online web app.
