Enabling Good Lives 101

Throughout 2024, My Life My Voice has been running a new series of community-based forums called Enabling Good Lives 101.

These forums have been held across six regions and will explore the Enabling Goods Lives approach and how it can impact your life. This forum is for people who are familiar with and know nothing about Enabling Good Lives but interested in learning more.

Where did Enabling Good Lives 101 come from? 

My Life My Voice is part of the Community Capability Development Services Initiative (CCDS). This is an initiative funded by Whaikaha to promote the Enabling Good Lives vision and share its eight principles and approach to more regions across Aotearoa.

This initiative focuses on our community, the disabled community. This includes:

  • Disabled people/Tāngata Whaikaha Māori

  • Family/whānau of disabled people

  • Disability service providers

  • Disability support workers

All members of the disability community are invited to attend our Enabling Good Lives 101 forums.

Where and when will the forums be held?

As of October 2024, different Community Groups will be starting in Te Tai Rāwhiti (Gisborne District), Nelson, Invercargill, Auckland’s North Shore, and South Auckland. These group will be advertising independently in your region by those running them.

To help support them, My Life My Voice will share any posts made by these groups via social media.

** Special Auckland CBD Forum**

Due to the high demand and the popularity of the Enabling Good Lives 101 forums, EGL 101 will be running a one-time only Auckland Central forum from in October of 2024.

This forum will be held at the following date/time:

  • Auckland CBD - Wednesday 23 October
    1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
    Auckland Deaf Club
    16 Hillsborough Rd, Three Kings

What support can be provided? 

We are able to provide Meeting Assistants on request and will have NZSL Interpreters present at all forums. Please let us know if you require a Meeting Assistant and we will arrange one.

As we are committed to making our training as accessible as possible, please let us know about any other learning supports and access requirements you have and we can investigate how best to support them.
